A Record-Breaking Birth

In 2006, just before turning 60, Lauren gave birth to twins—Gregory and Giselle—becoming the oldest woman in the U.S. to do so at the time. But her journey to motherhood was far from easy.

A Love Story That Defied Expectations

Lauren met Frank Garcia in a dance class in 2002. Having already raised two children and recently divorced, she never expected to find love again—especially with someone 20 years younger.

“I never imagined he’d be interested in someone so much older,” she admitted. Yet, their connection was undeniable, and they married just months later.

Overcoming the Odds with IVF

Starting a family wasn’t simple. Many doctors refused to help due to Lauren’s age, but the couple refused to give up.

After several failed IVF attempts, they finally found a specialist willing to assist. In December 2004, they welcomed their first child together, Raquel. Then, to their amazement, Lauren became pregnant again—this time with twins!

Becoming a Mother Again at 60

On May 22, 2006, Lauren gave birth to Gregory and Giselle, tying a British record from 1993. While the media buzzed about her achievement, Lauren focused on simply being a mom.

“I don’t feel like a record holder. Aside from some arthritis, I’m in great shape,” she told PEOPLE.

The Challenges of Motherhood Later in Life

Being an older mom comes with its own hurdles. Strangers often mistake Lauren for the twins’ grandmother, and her eldest daughter, Renee, initially struggled with the age gap.

Still, Lauren and Frank embrace their unique family dynamic. Determined to stay healthy for her children, she follows a strict routine of yoga, Pilates, and nearly 100 supplements weekly.

“My goal is to see them graduate college,” she said. “I need to make it to 81!”

A Life Full of Love and Purpose

Despite the doubters, Lauren proudly embraces motherhood later in life. Her story proves that it’s never too late to chase your dreams—and that love and family don’t follow a set timeline.
